Akiba Research Institute's official poll project "What to watch next season? Summer Anime Popularity Poll! started today, June 11, 2020 (Thursday), and the voting has begun. The deadline for voting will be two weeks later, on June 24 (Wed.).

As you know, the spring anime of 2020 was hit hard by the spread of the new coronavirus, which has become a global problem. Many of the scheduled productions have had to postpone their broadcasts and distribution, and there are still some productions that have yet to resume. While there would normally be more than 50 to 60 titles lined up in a row, this year's summer anime has less than half of that number, with only 24 titles scheduled for broadcast or distribution (as of June 11), a clear indication of the drastic decrease in the number of works.

However, looking at the contents, many of the major and noteworthy works that were originally scheduled to be broadcast or distributed as spring anime have postponed their start dates and will be broadcast or distributed again this summer. Just to name a few, " Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (2nd season)," " Sword Art Online Arisimation War of Underworld 2nd Cool," and " Watashi Ore no Seishun Love Comedy ga Mawatteiru. The sequels and final installments of so-called popular works, such as "I knew my adolescent romantic comedy was wrong , " are all lined up, which alone is quite remarkable. In addition, there are several new hot titles scheduled to start, including " Balance: UNLIMITED " by Yasutaka Tsutsui, " Ikebukuro West Gate Park " by Ira Ishida, " The Sinking of Japan 2020 " by Sakyo Komatsu, and other literary works, as well as " Kanojo, omooshi shimasu" (I Borrow You), "Kanojo, omooshi shimasu" (I Borrow You), "Kanojo, omooshi shimasu" (I Borrow You), and "Hanzen no firefighter" (I Borrow You), all based on popular comics.
