Tomihiko Morimi, Makoto Ueda, and Yusuke Nakamura! Sequel to the masterpiece "Shijohan Shinwa Taikei", "Shijohan Time Machine Blues" will be released on July 29th! Cover design also revealed!

One of Tomihiko Morimi's early masterpieces, "Yonjohan Shinwa Taikei," has many fans in the anime version. Its sequel, "Yonjohan Time Machine Blues," will be released on Friday, July 29, 2020. The price is 1,500 yen (excluding tax).

Based on a novel by Tomihiko Morimi, "Shijohan Shinwa Taikei" is an animated TV series that aired in the Noitamina slot in 2010. The story depicts a "barren and foolish coming-of-age tale" that unfolds in four parallel worlds under the assumption that "if I had chosen a different path instead of joining the XX circle in front of that fateful clock tower (、、、、)," the main character is "me" who has entered her third year of college without having achieved anything despite dreaming of a rosy campus life. The highlights of the film are the moratorium-like lifestyle of the protagonist who, despite all his claims, cannot leave the "four and a half tatami mats," the cityscape of Kyoto that expresses the peculiarities of the local climate, and the various worlds depicted in live-action, 3D, bold colors and bold forms. The series featured a total of 11 complete episodes, including a tennis circle version, a movie circle version, a cycling circle version, a softball circle version, and so on.

⇒Tomihiko Morimi's novel "Yoru wa tanashi arukke yo otome" will be made into an anime movie! Singer-songwriter Gen Hoshino will play the role of the main character, Senpai.

The sequel to "Shijohan Shinwa Taikei", "Shijohan Time Machine Blues", will be released on July 29, 2020 (Friday). The cover illustration is by popular illustrator Yusuke Nakamura, as in the previous work. It features a lively depiction of characters in various outfits, with Akashi-san holding a camera and a clock at the center.

The sterile exchanges between these nostalgic characters and the slapstick over the time machine are guaranteed to make you grin and smile from beginning to end.
Even after many years have passed since their release, both works still boast deep-rooted popularity. We hope you will enjoy this work that combines the charms of both works.

Message from the Author
Dear readers, I am pleased to present my new novel "Yonjohan Time Machine Blues.
Tomihiko Morimi's novel "Yonjohan Shinwa Taikei" and the stage play "Summer Time Machine Blues" by the theater company Europa Kikaku.
It is a simple and naive idea of what would happen if these two were combined.
Set in a four-and-a-half-tatami-mat apartment called "Shimogamo Yusuisuiso" in the middle of summer, the characters from "Shijohan Shinwa Taikaikei,
The characters of "Shijohan Shinwa Taikei" try to make the most of a time machine that suddenly appears. ......
This is the first sequel (?) of "Shijohan Shinwa Taikei" in 16 years. The "Shijohan Mythology Taikei" is a sequel (?) after a gap of 16 years.
In these days when the magical winds of Corona are blowing in the streets, this old-fashioned, cheerful, and joyful novel is a welcome addition to the world of the "Shijohan Mythology Taikei,
I hope that this old-fashioned, cheerful, and joyful novel will be a breath of fresh air in this suffocating life of self-restraint.

Tomihiko Morimi

Three points worth reading
It has been a long time since I read a novel about a rotten university student! The sequel to "Shijohan Mythology Taikaikei," a novel about a corrupt university student!
Finally! A collaboration between two friends, Tomihiko Morimi and Makoto Ueda, a playwright.
A devil's merger of "Yonjohan Shinwa Taikei" and "Summertime Machine Blues" (a stage work by the theater company Europe Kikaku)?
The two trusted allies of Makoto Ueda and Makoto Ueda have come together to create the hottest collaboration of the summer!
Of course! Original cover illustration by Yusuke Nakamura

The first 44 pages of the first chapter of the book are now available for viewing on the "Kadobun" literary web magazine!

<Synopsis.
The most careless time travelers in history take part in this comedy adventure!
In Kyoto in the heat of summer, the only air conditioner in a student apartment stops working. Ozu, a bad friend who is like a monster, submerged the remote control in water last night. How was I supposed to spend the rest of the summer? While "I" was discussing countermeasures with the cool beauty Akashi-san, whom I have a secret crush on, a student boy with a very shabby appearance appeared. To my surprise, he came from 25 years in the future on a time machine. At that moment, I had a genius idea. I could use this time machine to go back to yesterday and bring back the remote control before it broke! However, when "I" witnessed Ozu and his friends altering yesterday's world at will, "I" foresaw the danger of the world's extinction.
