Character introductions and cast comments

Yuji Kurobane: CV Junya Enoki

Height: 184cm Number: 7 Position: Wing Spiker
A first-year student at Nanabu Seiin High School. He is the only son of a landowner in the town of Monjiro, in a corner of Fukui Prefecture. He started playing volleyball in earnest when he met his childhood friend Haishima again. He boasts of his outstanding physical abilities, but is weak under pressure and tends to make mistakes at the critical moment.

Junya Enoki's Comment

Q1: What is your impression of this work?

At first glance, one might think that it is a sporty story since it is based on volleyball, but I feel that it is a very narrative work with a lot of emphasis on the depiction of human relationships.

Q2: What is your impression of the character you play and how do you feel about the role?

Kurou likes ballet, but I have the impression that he is a bit naive and weak under pressure. I am looking forward to seeing how he will grow under the influence of Haishima.
Since the play is set in Fukui Prefecture, I would like to play the role carefully while being aware of the atmosphere of Fukui.

Koushi Haishima: CV Kensho Ono

Height: 181cm Number: 8 Position: Setter
A first-year student at Nanabu Seiin High School. When he was in kindergarten, he moved to Tokyo for family reasons. He attended a strong junior high school for ballet, but an incident caused him to stop attending school, and he returned to Fukui. He is a ballet fool who only thinks about ballet.

Kensho Ono Comment

Q1: What is your impression of this film?

My name is Kensho Ono, and I will be playing the role of Koushin Haishima. I first came into contact with the original work during the audition, and I was very impressed by the way the junior high and high school students faced ballet in their own life size, and I naturally wanted to root for the characters.

Q2: What is your impression of the character you play and how do you feel about the role?

Koushin is a ballet fool who keeps his distance from others and only thinks about ballet. He gives a cool impression, but I hope I can express the passion for ballet that he keeps in his heart. Most of the characters speak in Fukui dialect, but I am glad that Koushi speaks in standard Japanese...lol

Misao Aoki: CV Yuichiro Umehara

Height: 193 cm, Number: 2, Position: middle blocker
A third-year student at Nanabu Seiin High School. He started playing volleyball when he was invited by Oda at the beginning of his school career. He is the vice president of the club and vice president of the student council.

Yuichiro Umehara Comment

Q1: What is your impression of this work?

The characters' devotion to ballet is refreshing and reminds me of my youth.
I think the passion and conflict that can only be experienced at that time can be shared by both those who have experienced sports and those who have not.
I also think that the dialect makes the work feel more realistic.

Q2: What is your impression of the character you play and how do you feel about the role?

Misao Aoki is an aloof and clever person.
It is difficult to see his true feelings, but his passion for volleyball is genuine.
I find Aoki's support for Oda, the captain of the team, fascinating. I think you will enjoy their relationship.
I am looking forward to seeing if I can break through the dialect barrier in my performance.

Shinichiro Oda: CV Kento Ito

Height: 163 cm, Number: 1, Position: Wing Spiker
He is a junior at Nanabu Seiin High School. He is the captain of the boys' volleyball club. He has always been more passionate about volleyball than anyone else, but he is now faced with a height barrier and thinks he has no choice but to take a different path after graduating from high school.

Comment by Kento Ito

Q1. Could you tell us your impression of this film?

First of all, the number "2.43" in the title is
I first learned that the number "2.43" in the title refers to the height of the men's volleyball net.
It is very high, isn't it, when you know the number clearly?
I thought it was a very fascinating work because it is a coming-of-age ensemble drama through a sport played over a net, and it contains passion, sadness, and frustration.

Q2: What is your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?

My first impression of the character is his short stature.
Even though he is a captain and a wing spiker,
When I stand side by side with the other members, the difference is obvious.
And to be honest, I have never been bothered by my short stature.
I am now feeling both excited and nervous about how I will be able to play the role of Oda. It is a new emotion.

Akito Kakineno: CV Shota Aoi

Height: 181cm Number: 4 Position: Wing Spiker
A sophomore at Nanabu Seiin High School. For health reasons, he is unable to exercise outdoors for long periods of time, so he participates in the women's volleyball club's indoor practices when they are outside.

■Shota Aoi Comment

Q1. Could you tell us your impression of this film?

I think it is a work that can be enjoyed not only by those who play volleyball but also by those who do not play volleyball!

Q2: What is your impression of the character you play and how do you feel about the role?

Akito is a child who has a weak skin and cannot exercise outdoors for long periods of time, but he is a very good boy. I hope I can bring those good aspects of Akito to everyone through my performance.

Yusuke Okuma: CV Subaru Kimura

Height: 187cm, Number: 10, Position: middle blocker
A sophomore at Nanabu Seiin High School. He used to be a member of another club, but was invited by the vice captain, Aoki, to join the volleyball club. He is the best in terms of delicacy.

Comment by Subaru Kimura

Q1: What is your impression of this work?
Since the original work is a novel written by Yukako Kabei, I found the descriptions to be very detailed, and I felt the delicacy of Aiji Yamakawa's drawings to touch my heart.
I am looking forward to being involved in this project! I am very excited about it now.

Q2: What is your impression of the character you are playing and how enthusiastic are you about the role?

My name is Subaru Kimura, and I will be playing the role of Yusuke Okuma. From the first time I read the script, I thought he was an interesting character with a unique combination of gusto and humor, and I will do my best to deliver the world of the work to everyone who watches the show in a faithful and entertaining way. I look forward to working with you!

I will do my best to deliver the work to everyone who watches it in an even more interesting and faithful way.

Original author's comment: Yukako Kabei

This novel, which started in serialization in 2012, will become an anime thanks to a lot of support and good fortune.
2.43" = "2m43cm" is the height of the net for ordinary boys and "Spring High Volleyball" boys. Please measure it with a tape measure. I am looking forward to seeing the exciting battle that will take place even higher than this height in the anime.
We have a reliable staff and a wonderful, wonderful cast. Whether you are a reader of the original story, a newcomer to the anime adaptation, or a volleyball fan, you can expect great things from us.
There will also be a collaboration with Fukui Prefecture, where the show is set. Fukuoka? Fukushima? Fukui! We would be happy if you could get to know the charm of Fukui as well.
