Kawada Co., Ltd. has released the "Chara Nano" series, a unified standard series for assembling various characters with "nanoblock" block toys. Editor A of Akiba Research Institute tried his hand at the newest addition to the series, "Chara-nano: Evangelion Unit 2!

First, let's start with the package.

The package, with a picture of the finished product and an illustration of Eva Unit 2, is simple but cool! This package will be used later, so don't crush it up and throw it away!

Here is what the package looks like. The package contains about 300 pieces of very fine blocks packed in a bag.

First, take the blocks out of the bag and spread them out on your desk. Since each block is small, it is recommended to find the necessary block and assemble it carefully so as not to mistake similar parts!

There is a section where the slits on the back of the blocks must be set correctly, so be sure to read the instruction manual carefully.

Some of the ball joint parts are very thin, so be careful not to apply excessive force when fitting the blocks.

Be careful of parts with different angles of diagonal cuts! All of these precautions are also properly described in the instruction manual, so don't worry.

So, let's start assembling it.

At first, I thought, "Wow! We are assembling such a small block! I was surprised. I wondered if this could really be Eva.

I was skeptical and started to assemble it, and then I found .......

Oh?

Oh, oh, oh!

Gradually, its silhouette began to emerge, didn't it?

And finally, it was completed!

This is Evangelion Unit 2, no matter how you look at it.

Now let's check the front, side, and back!

The Eva's unique, subtle hunched-over look has also been reproduced.

The agitated angle like this is also very cool!

She can also stand on one leg like this. She can be posed in quite a few action poses.

Personally, I was impressed with the movable joints of the arms and legs. By connecting the limbs with rounded corner blocks, the figure is able to take action in a variety of poses.

Thanks to the rounded corner blocks, the joints move smoothly.

Turn over the package base like this, and re-set it in the package.

Then, set Eva Unit 2 on the display plate and ......

Once the package is placed in the package, it instantly transforms into a display box!

By raising the claws on the bottom, the display plate can be fixed in two patterns, front and diagonal.

The production time is about 1 to 1.5 hours. Since all you have to do is assemble the blocks, you don't need any tools or techniques like you would use with plastic models! And since you can assemble slightly stylish and cute character models, anyone can easily take on the challenge.

Also, since a few extra blocks are provided, even if you lose some of them, you can still complete the model, which is very nice! (Image shows the extra blocks)
