I played with the "Variable Action Kit Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula" series, which is in the easy-to-build red zone! Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Modeling Vol. 19

When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!

The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.

So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Let's get started with the 19th issue!

Vol. 19 Variable Action Kit: Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula "Super Asrada 01", "Nightsaber 005", "Ishzak

Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula" has been intermittently releasing a large number of three-dimensional items even while there have been no TV series or OVAs.
An assembly kit of such "Cyber Formula" has been released by MegaHouse! The name of the kit is the "Variable Action Kit" series!

The first kit in the lineup is the "Super Aslada 01", "Nightsaber 005", and "Ishzak" from the TV series.

Each has a choice of two modes.

Let's begin with the commemorative number 001, Super Asrada 01!

The runner is made up of multiple colors, and clear parts are used for the canopy and light sections.

A feature of this series is that the chassis part is in a completed state.

Instructions and stickers to follow the coloring of the detailed parts are included.

Since the number of parts is small, each mode can be selected and assembled at once to the assembled state.

The Super Asrada 01 can be selected from two modes: circuit mode and its boost pod UP state. After assembling up to this point, decide which one to assemble.

Circuit mode. The stickers have not been applied yet, but at this stage, the color scheme has been reproduced very close to the image in the movie.

The powerful boost pods are also perfectly balanced in size.

The backside of the chassis also has details that are faithful to the setting. On the underside of the front wing, you can also see the detail of the lights that are exposed when in rally mode.

The exterior of the ground effect fan has a hollowed-out triangular shape, which in combination with the chassis part reproduces the color separation and creates a three-dimensional effect.

When the stickers are applied, it will look like this. The stickers are the car number, the red line at the rear of the nose cone, the headlights, the Sugou mark by the cockpit, and the black area around the radar satellite on the roof. Yup! The atmosphere of the car has been brought out at once!

If you look closely, you can also see the modeling of the lights in the notches on the front wings. Thanks in part to the stickers, the basic coloring of the front has been mostly reproduced.
Also, I like the angle.

The car number is now on the side of the rear wing.

From the front. In the anime, we often saw the scene approaching at high speed from this angle.

I think the Super Athrada's appearance from right behind is very powerful and impactful, and the six exhausts should be painted in metallic color to get closer to the image.

From the side. Sharp at the front and massive at the rear is another characteristic of the Super Athrada's silhouette. Thanks to the omission of deformation, the proportions are not broken at all.

It is possible to reproduce the coloring of the headlights with stickers, but since they are clear parts, I think I would like to paint them, so I will do that later.

The cockpit is as well reproduced as a miniature car of the same size. The cockpit is too small to reproduce in detail, but as a display model of this size, it has a good atmosphere.

Next is the boost pod UP.
The only difference from the previous model is the rear part of the body. It reminds me of the powerful acceleration scene in the anime.

The increased width makes the rear part even more powerful.

Boost on!
The sticker looks like this.

Inside the boost pod is a sticker with a mesh pattern. I like that it's not just a black sticker.

Oh no~! You can almost hear that impressive engine sound!

It's almost a jet plane now, isn't it? It really is a powerful figure!

Next, number 002 "Ishzak".

The cowl and messer wing parts are boldly sculpted. The chassis is pre-assembled here as well.

The Ishzak comes with a choice of circuit mode or boost mode.

Let's start with the circuit mode without stickers.

...... sorry, only the sticker of the car number was put on by mistake. ......

The pure white ishzark is also beautiful.

The distinctive wheel covers are very mechanically shaped. And the canopy and headlights are reproduced with clear parts.

Messer wing is huge! The downforce rotor and exhaust are also perfectly shaped! I am very happy because no Ishzak kit in this size was released when the TV anime aired.

The bottom of the chassis is also well reproduced.

Circuit mode with stickers applied.

The red line has made it look much tighter. Yellow stickers are attached on the headlight and Union Saber mark stickers are attached on the side of the cockpit.

In the rear, the red line of the messer wing and the tail lamps are reproduced with stickers.

From the straight side.

The most luxurious car in Cyber Formula (?) Ishzak. The body line is graceful and beautiful. By the way, the Messerwing is so big!

One of the features of the TV series is the existence of machines that do not have the silhouette of a formula car, and the Ishzak is an interesting machine with a style that is the opposite of the racing car-like Super Asrada.

Its appearance from the back has a unique design that makes it hard to believe that it is a "car.

As mentioned earlier, the distinctive wheel covers. I always wondered how they changed the tires when I watched the cartoon. I still haven't quite figured it out (laughs).

The parts configuration of this area is also very three-dimensional, but the part divisions are kept to a minimum.

The cockpit is reproduced here as well. The atmosphere is sufficient!

No sticker for boost mode (please do not see the car number!).

The boost pod in the center is properly scaled with the one in circuit mode, so you might inadvertently mistake it for a variable type.

Looking from above, you can see that the mechanical details of the Messer wing section have been finely reproduced.

Even on TV, there were many opportunities to see it from this angle when boosting acceleration.

Messer wing!"
The stickers have been applied. The stickers around the boost pods are especially great.

The Messer wing is reproduced with stickers with the pattern of the mechanical part drawn on. The deployed boost pod is also reproduced with stickers.

I really want to see the Messer Wing from above when it is deployed! In the dock fight at the Tornado Bank, the Super Asrada and Fire Superion were running at full boost!

From the front.

What's with this style? It has a certain elegance, doesn't it? And that elegance is well expressed.

The gap between such a graceful machine and the cylindrical boost pod on its back is also very good.

Then there is the series number 003, "Nightsaber 005.

In the first half of the TV series, it showed overwhelming speed thanks in part to the skill of its driver, Knight Schumacher.

This model also comes with color-coded parts and stickers to follow the color-coding.

Once you have assembled the car up to this point, you can choose whether to assemble it in circuit mode or sprint mode.

The silhouette of this machine is the most formula-like of all the machines from the early TV series.
The canopy and lights are also reproduced with clear parts. Most of the color scheme is also reproduced at this point.

The rear wing that covers the rear tires is a distinctive feature.

The chassis has different lengths for the front and rear depending on the mode, but this has also been reproduced.

Like the other two cars, the cockpit has been reproduced well for its size.

The circuit mode is completed with stickers.

The orange color of the front wing and other parts are all reproduced with stickers. The car number on the front part is also reproduced with stickers. The intake behind the cockpit is the point to make it look like a formula car.

Car number stickers on the side of the rear wing.

Union Saber mark on the side of the cockpit. And "HPT-1" stickers on the side pods.

It looks really fast when seen like this.

From the front, the silhouette looks like a Formula 1 car.

The rear exhaust is reproduced with stickers. The presence of the rear wheels also looks like an F1 car.

Sprint mode.

The chassis extends back and forth, and the air intakes above the cockpit are stored. High speed mode with rear wing covering rear tires. The car looks sharper and lower in height.

The figure from the back also looks more compact.

The sticker increases the amount of information and looks cool!

I wonder if the rear wing covers the rear tires to soften the turbulence.

This is where the major difference from the circuit mode lies. Even though it is a selectable type, the chassis is properly telescopic.

Looking at it from the side, you can see that the front and rear lengths have been extended. The fact that the mechanical part of the sidepod section is slightly exposed is very artistic, especially in the sidepod section! The height is also very low!

When defending the Asrada from the interference of the boot holts, it also ran into them in this mode.

That scene was hot too!

It didn't seem to be equipped with boost, but it was a great moment when Pitalia Lope said to me, "Who the hell is this guy? This guy!" In the OVA "11," the successor to this machine also appeared, so it must have had high potential.

Although two Union Sabre machines did not appear in the movie at the same time, let's take a little race-like photo!

Schumacher: "Can you keep up with me?"
Hayato "Osamu!"
Randall "Oh dear Schumacher!"
Each machine, triple slipstreaming in high speed driving mode!

Hayato "Got it! Asrada!"
Asrada "Hayato, overspeed!"
Schumacher "Phew!"

Randall "Not yet!"
The zone where we can see Kazami Hayato over Schumacher is ...... is really a bit further in the works to be drawn. Randall was also beaten by Schumacher in "11"!

Randall: "How about! Schumacher!"
Schumacher "Ho."
Hayato: "Randall!
I would have loved to have held Schumacher like this!

Hayato: "I... want to surpass you!
Hayato watches from behind as Schumacher and Randall compete. It's interesting how each Cyber Formula machine has its own unique appearance from the back.

I thought about how to display them in a nice way, while applying smudging and clear yellow paint to the headlights.

As for the Super Asrada, I also painted the 6-string exhaust.

First, a display like this. I found this collection case at a 100 yen store. If you want to display it as it is, you may fix it with clear bond.

The name plate is cut out from the package.

The light of ISHZAK is also painted in clear yellow. This one looks more transparent and beautiful, doesn't it? I think I could have painted it a little darker.

I found the same collection case at a 100 yen store. This time, I displayed them on a square stand at an angle. This is a good idea.

I further arranged it by attaching Tamiya's scenery sheet (asphalt) to the top of the stand and reproduced the grid with white vinyl tape. How about this kind of display?

Incidentally, at home, we display MegaHouse's Cyber Formula collection in a non-100-yen case that we found at a 100-yen store.

In addition to the Variable Action Kit, MegaHouse has released many other cyber-related items such as the Cyber Formula Collection and the Variable Action Hi-Spec. The "Variable Action Kit" is made of materials that are easy to process and paint, and is reasonably sized, so it is likely to be enjoyed in a variety of ways.

The price is an affordable 1,780 yen (tax not included), so you may want to buy them in bulk to have a set for each mode!
We look forward to seeing more lineups and variations in the future!
It's just "fun, redzone!
