Mystery adventure "Root Film" trial version now available for Switch; 20% off pre-download also available

Kadokawa Games will begin distributing a demo version of its mystery adventure "Root Film" for Nintendo Switch, scheduled for release on July 30, 2020, today, July 9 (Thu.) at 0:00. In addition, "Root Film" will also be available as an "advance download" on the Nintendo eShop.

Root Film" is an authentic mystery adventure game set in Shimane, Japan. It is a huge game that takes more than 15 hours to complete, which is unusual for an adventure game. The two main characters, Yakumo and Riho, are supposed to enjoy novel CG expressions and visual tricks in the story of unraveling the past records by advancing their own stories. The director and scenario will be written by Ichizo Kono of "Clock Tower" and "Neko Samurai" fame, while character design will be handled by Taro Minohoshi of the "Love Plus" series and "Tokimeki Memorial ONLINE" fame.

A demo version for PS4 has already been released for this title, and a demo version for Nintendo Switch will finally be available. The demo version will be available up to the first chapter of the "Yakumo Arc," in which the story unfolds from the perspective of Rintaro Yakumo, one of the main characters. The game features a "synesthesia" system for acquiring important keywords and a "MAX Mode" for pursuing the culprit. Please note that saved data from the demo version cannot be transferred to the full version.

The Nintendo Switch version of "Root Film" will be available for download in advance from the Nintendo eShop on the same day. The price is 5,980 yen (tax included), which is 20% off the packaged version.
