What is the TV anime "Souei no Freelen"?
The manga "Souei no Freelen" is serialized in "Weekly Shōnen Sunday" (Shogakukan), written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Abetsukasa. Set in a world "after" the Demon King was defeated by a party of heroes, the story follows the journey of Freelen, a wizard who has lived for more than 1,000 years and defeated the Demon King together with the heroes, and the new people she meets.
The manga has won numerous manga awards, including the Grand Prize of the "Manga Grand Prize 2021," the Shinsei Prize of the "25th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award," and the Shogakukan Manga Award (69th) and the Kodansha Manga Award (48th) in the Juvenile Division.
The total number of comics sold has exceeded 24 million copies, and the second season of the TV anime "Sougou no Freiren" is scheduled to begin airing in January 2026.
