Comment from Rumiko Takahashi (original story)
I always feel a fresh sense of joy when my work is adapted into an anime. As a viewer myself, I am excitedly waiting for next spring's broadcast.

Atsuko Kashiwagi (Chief Producer) commented
The mysterious duo, a boy who is the Grim Reaper and a girl who can see ghosts, will help people (and spirits?) in trouble in an exhilarating and sometimes comical way. <Story
Rinne Rikudou, a boy who is a god of death, and Sakura Mamiya, a girl who can see ghosts, attend the same high school. Rinne solves the problems of ghosts from all over the school and lives off the money he receives from the requests, but for some reason he is very poor! She can't even afford to buy spirit-removal goods, so she has to borrow money from Sakura. What will happen to their relationship? And who is Rinne's nemesis?
The story of Rinne, Sakura, Rokubun, the contracted black cat, and other unique friends begins with a bizarre after-school story involving the spirit world as well!
