TV anime "Knights of Sidonia" to open in theaters on March 6, 2015! Second season starts in April with episode 8, a short animation of "BLAME!

It was announced that the movie version of the TV anime "Knights of Sidonia" will be released on March 6, 2015.




Knights of Sidonia" is an anime based on the science fiction manga by Tsutomu Nibei, who is known worldwide for his works such as "BLAME! It depicts a battle between the survivors of human beings traveling through space and Gauna, an interactive alien creature that destroys the solar system. Animation production was handled by Polygon Pictures.

The first theatrical version of the animated film, "Knights of Sidonia the Movie," will be released in theaters for a limited two-week run beginning March 6, 2015. The theatrical version will be a reconstruction of all 12 episodes of the TV series, with new cuts and sound effects added.


Details of the second TV anime season, "Knights of Sidonia: Battle for the Ninth Planet," were also revealed. It will be directed by Hiroyuki Seshimo, who served as assistant director on the previous production, with Hiroaki Ando and Naohiro Yoshihei serving as assistant directors. The other main staff and cast will remain unchanged, and the show will begin in April 2015 in the Anime-ism slot. In addition, it has been decided that a short anime "BLAME! Terminal Remnant City" based on the original author Tsutomu Nibei's masterpiece will be broadcast as the play in the 8th episode.
