CREATIVE's USB DAC headphone amplifier "Sound Blaster E5" (model number: SB-E-5) is now available.


The Sound Blaster E5 is a USB DAC headphone amplifier that supports high-resolution sound sources up to 24bit/192kHz.

In addition to being able to connect to a PC, it is equipped with a USB host port for connection to iOS devices and Android devices. It is also equipped with Bluetooth for wireless connectivity, and supports NFC for one-touch pairing, making it easy to enjoy music wirelessly. Bluetooth audio codecs supported are aptX, aptX Low Latency, and AAC.

Inputs are USB, Bluetooth, and line/microphone/optical digital (all exclusive). Outputs are headphone (3.5mm mini) x 2, line/optical digital (both exclusive). Note that when connected to a PC, the DAC is in direct mode for direct transmission to the DAC, bypassing the audio processor to prevent sound quality degradation.

The digital/analog converter is a Cirrus Logic CS5361 with a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB, the analog-to-digital converter is a Cirrus Logic CS5361 with a signal-to-noise ratio of 114 dB, and the headphone amplifier can drive headphones with an impedance of up to 600 ohms. The headphone amplifier is Texas Instruments' TPA6120A2, which can drive headphones with an impedance of up to 600 ohms.

In addition, ASIO (44.1kHz/48kHz/96kHz support, Windows only) and Open AL (Windows only) are supported. Power source is bus power and a built-in rechargeable lithium polymer battery (3200mAh). The main unit measures approximately 111 (W) x 24 (H) x 70 (D) mm and weighs approximately 164 g.
