2015 Winter Anime "Junjyo no Maria" Receives Voice Actor Comments After First Recording! Mikako Komatsu: "Homosexual scenes"

Voice actor comments from the TV anime "Junjyo no Maria," which will start in January 2015, have been announced.

The "Pure Mary" is an anime based on the manga by Masayuki Ishikawa. Set in medieval Europe during the Franco-British Hundred Years War, the fantasy depicts the virgin witch Maria, who possesses powerful magical powers, causing a commotion in an attempt to stop the war. Directed by Goro Taniguchi, series composition and script by Hideyuki Kurata, character design by Yuriko Senba, and animation production by Production I.G.

Comments from the main cast have now arrived. They each talk about Q1: How do you feel after the first recording and Q2: A message to the fans who are looking forward to the anime. The anime will start airing on January 11, 2015 on TOKYO MX and other stations.

Hisako Kanemoto as Maria
Q1: I had thought about my image of medieval Europe, witches, and humans before the first episode, but when I did the postrecording, there were some things that were different from what I had in mind. I then thought about it again, and so on. I am relieved that the first session ended successfully.
Q2: When I read the original work, I read it while thinking about many things. Then I read it again. I read it again! It is really fascinating! The era and themes are deep, but the work is easy to see and interesting for many people. I hope you will do the anime as well!

Yoko Hikasa (Artemis)
Q1: We had a meeting beforehand, so I was able to relax to some extent the first time. The seniors created an atmosphere, and the cast members talked about various things while working on the production, so I think it is a very wonderful first episode.
Q2: I have wanted to be involved in the production of "Pure Maria" since I auditioned for the role! I am very happy to be able to participate in the production. I would like to play Artemis, who is sometimes like a big sister and sometimes like a friend, not only in a sexy way but also with a mischievous sense of humor. I hope you will all enjoy the show!

Mikako Komatsu as Priapos
Q1: I can't forget the homosexual scene...(laugh) Priapos is a newbie who has just become a messenger, but I'm sure she will be pushed around by Maria and Artemis... I am looking forward to every postrecording.
Q2: Although the story is based on history and mythology, the tension is not stiff, and there are gag elements and the story progresses at a good tempo, so I think you will enjoy watching it. Please enjoy the story of archangels vs. witches!

Kana Hanazawa as Ezekiel
Q1: Ezekiel is a character who appears in the middle of the story, so I was looking forward to joining the recording sessions. I will do my job well as a watchdog of the witch Maria!
Q2: The storyline and gag scenes are very interesting, so I think anyone can enjoy them. Also, the beliefs and ideas hidden in the dialogue will make you think about what is right. Please watch it!

Kensho Ono as Joseph
Q1: As with anything, I was nervous the first time. However, I am glad that we had a preliminary meeting before the recording date so that I could go into the recording with a good understanding of the work.
Q2: You have faithfully reproduced the historical background, language, and so on. I myself am looking forward to the completion of the film. I think it is a work that will make you think a lot, and I hope many people will be able to witness Maria's battle! Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Kikuko Inoue as Michael
Q1: The world of the work is deep, and my role is also a very nerve-wracking character, but I received a huge amount of material long before the recording session started, so I was able to get into the role easily! There are many stimulating expressions in the work, so I felt nervous all the time, even in the scenes I was not in.
Q2: I think the work makes you think about various things! I hope that many people will feel the thrill and excitement of daring to challenge a subject that is difficult to express in a TV animation! I am sure it will be a wonderful work, so please look forward to it!
