Akiba Spill] MicroUSB cable for audio use with a length of 15 cm and a price of about 9,000 yen is now on sale! The wire material is Cardas.

Akiba Koho" is an irregular column introducing PC parts and digital gadgets that the Akiba Research Institute staff found interesting during interviews.

MicroUSB cable for audio is now on sale at Oriospec.

USB 2.0 cable for audio with MicroUSB connectors on both ends. The cable uses wires made by Cardas Audio, a well-known high-end cable manufacturer, and WBT solder, and is finished with ultra-low temperature (cryo) processing, which is said to improve sound quality.

The connectors are gold-plated, and the cable itself is covered with mesh material for outer protection. The length is short (15 cm) and a little stiff.

If it can be used with CHORD's Hugo, which has a MicroUSB connection, it can be directly connected to an audio player or smartphone/tablet with a MicroUSB port, which may improve usability since a conversion connector is not necessary.

Although it cannot be said that it can generally improve sound quality (≒lessen potential noise or noise caused by external factors), those who can hear the difference should examine it to see if it is the sound they prefer.

The price is 8,149 yen (excluding tax).
