NAMCO BANDAI Group announces 200-color penlight "LumiConne LIVE! Equipped with an acceleration sensor, colors change with each shake.

The next-generation penlight "LumiConne LIVE! was announced.

This is an LED penlight proposed by VIBE Corporation, a member of the Namco Bandai Group, whose "Danbochi," a simple soundproof room made of cardboard, became a hit. First, a volume dial is mounted to enable easy and speedy color selection, whereas conventional full-color LED penlights require repeated button presses for color selection. By converting the analog signal of the volume dial into an 8-bit digital signal, more than 200 colors are supported, and the color changes from red to green to blue to red to white according to the dial operation. The selected color can be immediately recalled by registering it in the three memory buttons.

A unique function is provided by simultaneously pressing multiple memory buttons, which automatically switches to the registered color each time the penlight is shaken. An acceleration sensor is installed to distinguish between vertical and horizontal actions, and the color changes with each return trip when the penlight is swung vertically, and with each return trip when the penlight is swung horizontally. In addition, when the penlight is rotated around the wrist axis, it smoothly changes color and emits a rainbow of colors.

The size of the penlight is 25 cm in length (12 cm for the luminous part) and 3.7 cm in thickness at its widest point. 3 AAA batteries (3 pcs.) are used. The product will be commercialized only if it succeeds in raising the target amount of 13 million yen through crowdfunding (https://www.makuake.com/project/lumiconnelive/) (manufacturer: Yamato Kogyo). Funds are being solicited until June 19, with completion scheduled for around January 2016. Incidentally, 13 million yen is the production cost of the minimum lot of 3,000 units plus initial investment costs.
