Voice actor comments for the Japanese dubbed version of the web animation "RWBY" have arrived.

RWBY" is a web animation produced by Rooster Teeth Production in the U.S., and has gained popularity beyond national borders with its 3DCG character modeling, powerful action, and heartfelt scenario. The total number of views on YouTube is more than 70 million, and the total number of views on the official website is more than 100 million. The content is an action story about a girl who attends a training school for "hunters" to fight against "Grimms," who threaten the human race, and how she grows up with her friends. The main cast of the Japanese dubbed version includes Saori Hayami as the main character Ruby Rose, Yoko Hikasa as Weiss Schnee, Yu Shimamura as Blake Belladonna, and Ami Koshimizu as Yang Xiaolong.

The first chapter of the Japanese dubbed version will be screened at six theaters nationwide from November 14, and voice actor comments have arrived. Saori Hayami (Ruby Rose), Yoko Hikasa (Weiss Schnee), Yu Shimamura (Blake Belladonna), Ami Koshimizu (Yang Xiaolong), Hiro Shimono (Joan Arc), Megumi Toyoguchi (Pyrrha Nicos), Aya Suzaki (Nora Valkyrie), Souma Saito (Lai Ren) (played by Rai Ren), talked about their own roles and the appeal of the work.

--Please tell us your impression of the character you play.
Saori Hayami: My first impression of the character was red and passionate. She is a cute, innocent, straightforward girl, and I thought she has a character that makes me feel cheerful. Not only that, I also got the impression that she has a caring and slightly timid side.
Yoko Hikasa: Weiss gives a strong impression of being a young lady and selfish, but she is also very straightforward. She also hates to lose. She has her own kindness and feelings, but she is unable to express them honestly. I think you can see her mental growth the most in this story.
Yu Shimamura: My first impression of her was a cool beauty with stylish monotone and feminine long black hair, but when I played her
I found her to be a serious and kind person.I was happy to hearthat Blake's motif was Belle from "Beauty and the Beast,"as I love Belle.
Ami Koshimizu: She is a quick-witted and straightforward person, but she loves her younger sister! I think she is a charming character with a funny and expressive face!
Hiro Shimono: Sean looks cool at first glance and is a complete gag character, but he also has a solid side. Especially when it comes to his friends.
Megumi Toyoguchi: Pyrrha is like a reliable older sister. She has a strong core and is kind. That's the image I had of her.
Aya Suzaki: I thought Nora was a very bright and lively girl who talked a lot. She is very cute and I was looking forward to playing her.
Souma Saito: I got the impression that she is a quiet character, a hard worker and a balancer. He is often pushed around by Nora. I also like that he is a strong fighter.

--What were you conscious of when playing the character and what difficulties did you face?
Saori Hayami: I was conscious of the fact that the character has a lot of emotions packed into a single line of dialogue, which changes from one line to the next. I was also conscious of the tempo of the conversations between the characters.
Yoko Hikasa: It was difficult for me to speak very fast because of the foreign scale. I was careful to bring out Weiss's unique transparency and airiness, as well as her daughter-like elegance.
Yu Shimamura: I think the hardest part was that I had to speak very fast. Of course, compared to the other three actors, I am not a fast talker, but at first I thought I was speaking a little slower. But since everyone else was so fast, I guess I slowed down relatively speaking. But the most difficult thing was that I couldn't record with everyone, so if there is a Vol. 2, I would like to do it with all four of us.
Ami Koshimizu: We recorded the action scenes with more reactions than the original sound. The characters' movements are smooth and dynamic, so I tried to make the most of that!
Hiro Shimono: I was conscious of the difference between the clumsy parts and the solid parts. I think that's what makes him attractive and interesting.
Megumi Toyoguchi: There are many characters, but they all have their own personalities, so I wasn't consciously trying to do anything in particular, but I was conscious of not being too cute in my interactions with Joan. I was conscious of not being too cutesy in my interactions with Joan. I was afraid that I might come across as flirtatious, depending on how I played her (laughs).
Aya Suzaki: Nora basically talks fast and has a lot of lines, but I was conscious of making her sound like a crazy girl with a lot of tension. There is a scene where Nora imitates the cries of a certain animal, and I tried to make her act like the original actor (laugh).
Souma Saito: At first, I tried to speak in a lowered tone and not talk too much, but I was directed to speak with a firm voice, so I focused on the sense of conversation with the other members of the group.

--What do you think is the charm of "RWBY Volume 1"?
Saori Hayami: The strong depiction of growth and bonds. All the characters are unique and clash with each other at first, but in the end, I thought it was wonderful that they were able to open up to each other.
Yoko Hikasa: I think it could be a fusion of foreign and Japanese works. It was like watching something new, something different from pure foreign anime and something different from pure Japanese anime. I was happy to see the love for Japan that the people who produced this work have for Japan!
Yu Shimamura: I can feel that the staff in the home country loves Japanese animation. We didn't originally create this project for export, but the love of the staff and users was conveyed to Japan, and this is how this project came to be. I think this event itself is the charm of Vol. 1.
Ami Koshimizu: The story structure is fresh and unique, the characters are well-balanced, and above all, the use of space is wonderful and very dynamic. Although the angle of view is limited, you can feel a greater sense of space and depth! I heard that many people are looking forward to the dubbed version. Megumi Toyoguchi: The characters are rich in personality. Scattered laughter, etc.
Aya Suzaki: The action is just great to watch. The speed, the camera work, and the theme song that plays during battles are cool. I also thought the character designs were easy for Japanese people to get used to, and the heroines were all attractive and cute.
Souma Saito: I think the best thing about the game is that the images move very well. To be honest, it took me a while to check it out because it was so fast (laughs). (laughs). I think the images are that powerful and wonderful.
