Cool songs are not date! i☆Ris talks a lot about their new single "Re:Call"!

The 13th single "Re:Call" by i☆Ris will be released on August 3, 2016, and is also the OP song of "Souhou no Yinyouji," an anime currently airing on TV Tokyo in July.

The title tune, "Re:Call," is a theme song for a shonen manga with a strong battle element, so it has a cool beat and a sense of speed. The unyielding lyrics are also powerful.

The coupling song, "Kagami no Labyrinth," is also a hot up-tempo rock-oriented number about worries and conflicts, while "Midsummer Fireworks and Secret Base" on TYPE-B (CD) is a bright, cute, and catchy song with a nostalgic hidden flavor. The point of this song is that it is bright, cute, and catchy, but has a nostalgic hidden flavor.

The music video (music video) for "Re:Call" on TYPE-A (CD + DVD) is a mysterious and suspenseful video showing the members dancing coolly amidst a magical pentagram, lit by torches, and wandering through a dense forest. The video is mysterious and suspenseful.

We asked the six members of "i☆Ris" about what to listen to in the three songs of the new single, as well as the hilarious story behind the filming of the music video.

The OP song of a boy's anime that fulfilled a long-cherished wish

─ "Re:Call" is the first OP song for an anime other than "Pripara" for "i☆Ris", isn't it?

Yamakita: I have always preferred shonen anime. As a viewer, OP is something that leaves a great impression on me. ...... I love "Ueki no Houhou" and I still listen to the OP of the previous season, "Falco," many times. I wonder if there will be people like me who will later say, "Re:Call" is the song that made me become an otaku! I'm grinning so much, thinking that there will be people like me who will say "Re:Call" is the song that made me an otaku!

Serizawa When it was decided that I would appear in "Onmyoji of the Double Star", there was no talk of me singing the theme song at all. Then I heard that "i☆Ris is going to sing the theme song for the second season," and I was surprised and happy and thought "Yay! I was surprised and happy. I was surprised and happy to hear that "i☆Ris will be singing the theme song for the second season" and I was like "Yay! When I first saw the TV broadcast of the song, I felt it fit perfectly within me, and I was like, "Oh, I'm singing the theme song! I was moved in front of the TV.

Akaneya: I have always been a big fan of shonen manga type anime as well. ...... and everyone in i☆Ris also likes that type of anime (laughs). (This was the first time for me to work on an OP (other than "Pripara"), so I was very happy. I myself am the type of person who first sees and hears the OP image and song, and then thinks, "Oh, this anime looks interesting! I hope there are people who feel the same way about "Re:Call". I would be happy if our OP song and "Onmyoji of Futaboshi" could help more people to like them together.

Wakai: We have been the main cast of "Pripara" and have sung the OP for a long time, so to be chosen as the OP theme for an anime other than "Pripara" was a different kind of joy for i☆Ris, which has always wished to sing the OP song for an anime someday. I have always wanted to fulfill this dream. I was very happy because I felt like I had fulfilled a dream that I had wanted to achieve for a long time. Besides, I also like shounen anime, so I've been thinking about ......, ehehehehehe (laughs). The anime that I liked when I was a child have memorable songs in my memory, so I am sure that the children who are watching "Onmyoji of the Double Star" now, when they grow up, will remember the song from the anime that they liked. I hope that when they grow up, they will be able to remember it as their favorite anime song.

Kubota: As an anime otaku, one of the joys of being an anime otaku is the week-long wait for your favorite anime to air. So the moment our song "Re:Call" is played in the OP, someone feels the excitement of "This week has started again! I think it's really great that someone feels that excitement. That's really wonderful, isn't it? Also, the fact that it is the OP song of the second season means that there is a connection between the song and the story of that season (as the memory of the people who saw it), so I think it is wonderful that it can be a memory for the fans or a connection with the work.

Shibuya: The rate of listening to the OP is definitely high. First of all, there is a little bit of "Avant" (the main scene before the OP), and then the OP is played right after that, so I think it is the entrance to the work. That makes me very happy. And I think it's not easy for people to hear the voice of "i☆Ris" and think, "It's going to start from now on! And that's why I'm very happy about it. So I sang the song while being careful not to disturb the work or destroy the atmosphere so that the viewers can concentrate on the main story of the anime.

─ ─ Please tell us what to listen to in "Re:Call" and any other stories related to the production of the song.

Yamakita: Well, I'll tell you about some of the difficulties I faced. I was talking about the photo shoot for the jacket. This was the first time for "i☆Ris" to have a cool face for the title song, so when I thought about it, we had never had a photo shoot with a cool face before. So the staff told me to make a cool face, but for some reason, when I tried to make a cool face, I ended up looking scary. I couldn't get it right many times. I was shown images of celebrities from overseas and told to "make this kind of expression," so I tried my best to take pictures of them. I made a lot of effort to get this expression on the jacket, so please take a look at it.

Akaneya: Next is me. First of all, I would like to talk about my singing. However, I did not just sing in a cool way, but I really worked on the way I sang, as if I was squeezing out the words from inside. So I had to think a lot while singing. What I want to mention is the dance! The "Pripara" songs tend to have large choreographies that are easy for everyone to imitate, but "Re:Call" is a song that requires the use of muscles to hold a specific pose one at a time. I feel that the way I use my muscles is different from before (laughs). (Laughs) But I have always wanted to dance this kind of detailed choreography, so I look forward to every live performance!

Kubota I am also talking about something related to the choreography, but there is a choreography in which we have to stand on our knees in the middle of the song. The costume staff wiped off all the dust and sand one by one every time we changed the shot. I think it was more difficult for the costume staff than for us. The shoes were brand new, but they looked worn out after just a few dances during the shoot.

Serizawa And the next day was the jacket shoot. ......

Kubota Thank you so much for wiping my shoes clean for that!

Serizawa Well, I'll go on to the topic of your work. The title of this song was chosen by me, because it is the OP, and the lyrics are filled with the world of "Onmyoji of Twins" in many places. I think it will be easy for the fans of "Onmyoji of the Twins" who know i☆Ris for the first time to accept i☆Ris. I was very happy to be able to play the role of Mayura because it is so close to the work. I was also happy to be given the title because I felt like I was doing an important job.

─ ─ Why did you choose "Re:Call"?

Serizawa: It means "to remember" or "to call to mind. Rokuro had given up on his dream of becoming an Onmyoji because of many things that happened before the story began, but when he met his partner, Benio, he awakened the feelings he had given up on and got up on his feet, with the feeling of "This time I will make my dream come true. I will make my dream come true this time, and I will accomplish it. I hope that everyone who listens to this song will recall their forgotten dreams and important feelings, and try their best again and again. This song also reminded me of something I had almost forgotten, so I chose this title as a way of saying that it made me think about it again.

Wakai: I think this song has many charms, and the choreography is very fresh for me, too. It is different from the cool dance moves I have done in the past. The choreographer said, "This might be the best dance I've ever done," and I said, "Wow! (exclamation). The intro of the song is very intense, so I think it really catches your attention when you see it for the first time. The kicking pose was well received by the fans, and the pose of cutting the Yin-Yang-Shi seal was popular at the checkers. I like it because the choreography also has the world view of the work in an easy-to-understand way.

Shibuya: Apart from the image of the work, I felt that it was easy to express myself in the song as a whole. It is the same with the costumes, the way of singing and dancing. As for the dance, I rented a studio and practiced the choreography by myself this time. There were several changes to the choreography right up until the last minute, so I had to coordinate with everyone in a small amount of time. ...... I'm not very good at dancing. I couldn't drag everyone down with me! So I quietly trained by myself. Then the choreographer said, "I like it this time! I remember I was so happy. I remember I was very happy. I am the type of person who grows by being praised (laughs).
