This year marks the 40th anniversary of the theatrical release of "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Ai omochimoni desu ka", the origin of the "Macross" series and one of the most popular films in the series, on July 21, 1984. To commemorate this anniversary, "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Ai omoemore desu ka 4K Remastered Set (4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Disc)" will be released on January 29, 2025 (Wednesday). The film will be remastered in 4K using the latest film scanning technology from the 35mm negative film.

After 40 years, I am finally able to deliver the images I imagined at the time.
With this 4K remastering, I was surprised that scenes that I felt were out of focus could be brought into focus so precisely.
The tonal gradations in dark scenes are also sharper! The details became more visible and the sense of realism was enhanced.
Looking back on that time, place, and age, I realize that we could not have created something that we did without the members of the team. I hope that you will experience the feeling of deculturation as if you were traveling through the vastness of the super-time-space universe with Macross!

＜Story
In the year 2009, the giant space battleship Macross is on its way back to Earth after encountering the Zentraedi, a battle race, and entering into battle. It was caught in a diversionary maneuver by the enemy in the orbit of Titan in the Saturn sphere, and allowed enemy troops to enter its interior. Meanwhile, inside the interior with its urban space, the very first concert of the idol singer Lin Ming-mei was being held. Minmei flees from the enemy who appears at the concert venue. Just as the enemy's giant hand seizes her, the pilot of the VF-1 Valkyrie fighter plane, Akira Ichijo, appears before her.
