Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has decided to revise the suggested retail prices of the PlayStation 5 and related peripherals in Japan, effective September 2, 2024.

According to information on the PlayStationBlog, " We have made this decision in light of the impact on our business due to the recent severe external environment, including global economic fluctuations. The new prices will take effect on Monday, September 2, 2024.

With this price increase, the PlayStation5 will now cost 66,980 yen (including tax) to 79,980 yen (including tax), a 13,000 yen increase, so those who are not sure about purchasing the console should take the plunge before the price increase.
