Yoshiyuki Tomino, General Director's Comment

I created this film thinking that because it is in the giant robot genre, it would be possible to depict the near future in a cheerful and enjoyable story.

In this film, the amount of electricity used at night when looking down on the earth was reduced to that of the early 20th century.
As for the space elevator, the technology inherited from the space century has allowed for the operation of a much larger mass than is currently thought possible.
We created the story of Berri and Aida with the hope that children will think about what those meanings are.
This film should be fun to watch, because it would not be an enjoyable animated film if we only thought about it in terms of adult logic.
We then want to wait for the children to think about where the futuristic problems lie and come up with solutions to them.
