Game & Co. and Crazy Raccoon launch CR UEFN School, a commuter programming school for middle and high school students!

(Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Chung-Syo Hoshi; hereinafter "Game & Co.", a wholly owned subsidiary of Brave group Inc. (hereinafter "Game & Co."), in collaboration with the popular professional gaming team Crazy Raccoon, will open CR UEFN School, a commuter programming school in July 2025, utilizing the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (hereinafter "UEFN"), a creative tool exclusively for the online game "Fortnite" provided by Epic Games.
Applications for the free trial session are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 6:00 p.m. today, January 31 (Friday).

Background

According to a survey by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, there will be a shortage of at least 160,000 and up to 790,000 IT personnel in Japan by 2030.(*1) In this age of IT personnel shortages, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has made programming education compulsory in elementary schools(*2) from FY2020 to develop the next generation of IT personnel. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology is promoting the development of the next generation of IT human resources. However, there is still a lack of practical and attractive learning opportunities, especially in education for junior and senior high school students.
On the other hand, the online game "Fortnite," with more than 500 million users globally and over 70 million monthly active users, is creating a new market beyond the game industry. (*3), released in March 2023, enables creators to efficiently develop original maps and games on Fortnite, and is attracting attention as a place where many young people can acquire new digital skills.
Against this backdrop, "CR UEFN School" will provide middle and high school students with a fun place to learn the basics of programming and game development while utilizing "Fortnite" and "UEFN".

CR UEFN School" Overview

CR UEFN School" is a commuter programming school where students can learn the basics of programming and game development while utilizing the UEFN. Junior high school and high school students will learn to become UEFN creators through professional instructors and a unique curriculum, while having fun over the course of about a year.
Starting in July 2025, the school will provide efficient and practical learning through instruction tailored to the pace of each student.

About the free trial

Free trial sessions will be held at CR Gaming Space, a gaming space operated by Crazy Raccoon, on the following dates. On the day of the event, there will be a UEFN hands-on experience for students and a briefing session for parents.

Future Development

Game & Co. will develop three services, "CR UEFN Camp," "CR UEFN Contest," and "CR UEFN Guide," in collaboration with Crazy Raccoon, centered on CR UEFN School, to create a comprehensive learning environment for programming education.

CR UEFN Camp" (to be launched in summer 2025)

This is a game creation experience camp utilizing UEFN that allows participants to experience the "joy of creation" in a short period of time. Anyone can easily try their hand at creating a game, and after experiencing success, they can move on to the next step. Even those who are not comfortable with programming and those who like games can easily participate in the camp, providing an opportunity to discover new possibilities.

▼ "CR UEFN Contest" (scheduled to be held in winter 2025)

This is an annual contest that aims to have game creators and experts evaluate the enthusiasm and commitment of the game works created by student creators, to discover and support the next generation of creators, and to encourage each participant's future as a creator. The contest is open to all junior high and high school students, not limited to students of CR UEFN School.

CR UEFN Guide" (to be available gradually from the end of March 2025)

This is a program that provides university and vocational students with experience that contributes to their job-hunting activities as well as their development as members of society, in cooperation with educational institutions. The program provides a place for hands-on programming education.
